Bryan Cross Obituary, Death Cause – In the quiet corners of rural Grantsburg, Illinois, a vibrant soul, Bryan L. Cross, aged 60, bid farewell to this world on Wednesday morning, January 3, 2024. A resident of warmth, generosity, and love, Bryan’s legacy lives on through the cherished memories he leaves behind. Born on May 18, 1963, in Sullivan, Indiana, Bryan was the son of Russell Eugene “Gene” Cross and Norma Marie (Baum) Cross. On June 8, 2018, he embraced a new chapter in life, uniting in marriage with Tracey Calvin in Vienna, Illinois. She survives, and their love story continues to inspire those who had the privilege of witnessing it.
Bryan’s spirit is carried on by his children, Jordan (Cody) Baird of Miami, Oklahoma, and Dawson (Brittany Rogers) Johnson of Grantsburg. The laughter of three grandsons – Calvin, Bryant, and Jameson – and a beloved grandson, Waylon Johnson, echoes his joy for family. In the embrace of siblings, extended family, and numerous friends, Bryan’s legacy extends beyond blood ties. A man of many talents, Bryan attended Vienna High School and pursued a career as an over-the-road truck driver, contributing to Marion Excavating/Black River Contracting before his retirement. His love for the outdoors manifested in his passion for camping and fishing, showcasing a side of him that reveled in nature’s embrace.
Bryan’s diverse interests encompassed attending auctions, antiquing, and engaging in the art of buying and selling. Despite a gruff exterior, Bryan, fondly known as “Uncle Fuzz-Ball,” possessed a caring and giving nature that endeared him to many. A service honoring Bryan’s life will be conducted on Saturday afternoon, January 6, 2024, at 2 P.M. at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna, officiated by Pastor James Calvin. Visitation will precede the service from 1 P.M. – 2 P.M. at the funeral home. Following the service, family and friends will gather for a luncheon at the Beggs-Gurley VFW Post.
