Curtis, affectionately known as Mr. Martin, came into this world on January 23, 1947, in Whiteland, Indiana, a testament to the union of Donald Curtis and Phyllis Maxine (Richardson) Martin. He embarked on a journey of love with his soulmate, Elaine Scoggin, sealing their union on April 9, 1972. His commitment to service led him to the United States Air Force, where he dedicated a chapter of his life in the service of his country.
A man of enterprise, Curtis became the proprietor of Allen’s Auto Repair, a labor of love that spanned years until his well-deserved retirement in 2002. His devotion extended beyond the realm of work, as he became an integral part of the First Assembly of God Church. Actively participating in their TV Ministry, he lent his voice to spreading messages of faith and hope.
Curtis was more than a man; he was a beacon of positivity. His infectious joy, ever-present smile, and an innate ability to uplift those around him defined his character. No stranger existed in his world, only potential friends awaiting a warm embrace. Renowned for his colossal bear hugs, Curtis was a purveyor of love and kindness. Survived by his cherished wife, Elaine Martin, and their children, Dexter Martin and Kendra Lakey, along with grandchildren Ella, Amelia, Ella, and Owen, Curtis leaves behind a family enriched by his boundless love. His sister, Yvonne Martin Leslie, and brothers, Jim Cress and Scott Cress, share in the collective grief of losing a brother.
