Nintendo Anime Channel was a free app for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems available from the Nintendo eShop, that provided access to a selection of anime based on Nintendo properties as well as other licensed series. The service was first announced during the January 14, 2015 Nintendo Direct[1] and launched in Europe on February 13, 2015[2] and in Australia & New Zealand on February 14, 2015[3]. The app launched with a selection of episodes from Pokémon, Kirby and Inazuma Eleven, with the intention that the library of content would grow over time[1]. Episodes from season seven of the Pokémon anime were added from August 2015[4] and episodes from season eight were added in May 2017[5]. The service closed on October 31, 2018[6].
