Ruby Burns Obituary, Death Cause – Goree, TX, mourns the loss of a beloved resident, Ruby Marie Burns, who peacefully departed this world on January 7, 2024, at 8:10 A.M. in the Haskell Healthcare Nursing Center. Ruby, born on January 12, 1935, to Verna and Neva Merrifield in Sayre, OK, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a pillar of strength in her community. Ruby’s journey through life was marked by love, resilience, and a deep sense of family. She shared 66 beautiful years of marriage with her late husband, Tuffy Burns, and together they raised two sons and five daughters.
Tuffy’s passing in 2012 left a void in Ruby’s heart, but their enduring love remains an inspiring testament to commitment and partnership. Known for her green thumb and passion for quilting, Ruby found joy in tending to her yard and creating beautiful quilts. Her hands were skilled in crafting both the blossoms of nature and the intricate patterns of her quilting artistry. Ruby’s creative spirit brought warmth and beauty to the world around her. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, a sister, and a brother, Ruby leaves behind a legacy that will forever be cherished.
She is survived by two sisters and one brother, as well as her devoted children: Lonnie and wife Renee, Bill and wife Virginia, Rena Booze and husband Glenn, Rickie Myers and husband Rocky, Mickie Asmus, Vickie Huffman and husband Glenn, and Joni Smith and husband Willie. Ruby’s memory lives on in the hearts of her 13 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. Her nurturing spirit, creative talents, and unconditional love will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In accordance with Ruby’s wishes, no services are planned at this time. Cremation arrangements are under the compassionate care of McCauley-Smith Funeral Home.
